Overall the NAS hardware has been reliable (even though it uses WD Green not Red!j although the printer sever has been temperamental but the system has been let down by poor system support (addressing security issues) and poor firmware. After much panicked fiddling finally managed to unbrick and now updated to latest firmware to remove some serious security issues, reinitialised to use both disks (it is possible to map to both disks) and implemented suitable mitigation techniques. Tried to enter “Enclosure mode” to reset to an earlier firmware - no dice and resulted in bricked device (Netboot message). Copied all data to other disks then tried to load old firmware - no dice. I upgraded to the new UI not realising that I was losing ALL RAID options including RAID 0 although I did read the upgrade text file - my fault for not understanding the readme file but I couldn’t believe LG would remove the central reason for a multidisk NAS - RAID! When I discovered I was only using 1 harddisk to store my valuable files and the other was idle I investigated my options. Decent hardware but poor support I had been running this successfully for several years, upgrading the firmware every so often whenever I checked to see if it was up to date.
